THE ARTIST

The artist, Sandra Sherman, lives in Oregon. She shares her busy life with her husband, two dogs, four cats, two horses and pony. She is a practicing veterinarian who truly understands the special bond we develop with our pets.

She has drawn and painted since she was a child. Animals have always been her favorite subjects so specializing in painting pet portraits evolved naturally. She gravitated toward watercolor because she enjoys the special challenges painting with watercolor presents. She draws all of her subjects freehand, using a photo or a set of photographs for reference.

    I am so happy with the painting of my yellow Labrador, Zoe. Not only is the likeness excellent, Sandy captured her sweet essence. When I look at the painting, I feel my dog is looking right back at me with those warm brown eyes.
